According to Schein (1965), organisations need to both:

• continuously adapt to a rapidly changing external environment, and

• continuously integrate internally in ways that enable and support the external adaptation

The capacity of an organisation to manage these things - it’s ‘adaptive coping cycle’ - is key to an organisations health and effectiveness.
