Building relational intelligence and trust in school and MAT leadership teams

Effective teams thrive or fail on the basis of one thing … relationships. So as a school or MAT, you need your senior team to work really well together, and this requires an understanding of one another’s strengths, weaknesses and needs. With Core Strengths, you don’t have to leave this relational intelligence to chance.

Core Strengths 4S is an advanced development programme for school and MAT leadership teams.

Each member of the team will take a psychometric assessment called the Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI 2.0), which will indicate whether their motivational value system (MVS) is oriented towards people, process or performance. The insight this provides on an individual basis can be personally transformational, but when each team member is plotted in relation to one another’s MVS, the outcome is game-changer for team effectiveness. What’s more, the data is then available 24/7 via the Core Strengths online platform, enabling each team member to view one another’s profiles and access guidance on how to approach conversations, craft messages, run meetings and hold performance reviews in ways that are most likely to build connection and understanding.

Following a full-day team debrief on the outcomes of the SDI 2.0 evaluation, we will begin a programme of six immersive and experiential team coaching sessions, building on your team’s new awareness of one another’s motivational values, drivers and preferences, and fine-tuning the relational dynamics that enable high-performance.

Possible programme design

PRE-COURSE - team each take online SDI 2.0 assessment and receives a personal report.

DEBRIEF - full-day face-to-face event, debriefing the SDI 2.0 diagnostic & exploring what it means. Following the day, each team member will have full access to the Core Strengths platform for one year and will have been briefed in detail on how to use it in their everyday work.

INDIVIDUAL COACHING - 2 x 1 hour online 1:1 coaching sessions for each member of the team, exploring their strengths and weaknesses, working through what this means for their approach to being a member of the team, and thinking through issues as they arise.

TEAM COACHING - 3 x 2 hour online team coaching sessions, focusing on issues as they arise but framed overall by the relational patterns highlighted by the SDI 2.0 evaluation. For example, we might explore the nature of conflicts within the team, examine how people’s needs are - or are not - being met, or look at what happens when the pressure levels rise.

CLOSE - half-day face-to-face event, wrapping up and reviewing how the team has grown in terms of relational intelligence and effectiveness. You will have the opportunity to renew your subscription to the Core Strengths platform and retain access.

This is just an indicative programme design. Other options and pricing rates are available, including a focus on specific areas or a different mix of coaching and workshops. It all depends on your needs, intentions and budget. Through discussion, we may find that your needs are best met with team coaching or Synergi.
